Born Lisa Celeste Stroud in Westchester, NY, singer, actress, and performer Simone is the daughter of musical legend and freedom fighter Nina Simone. She was raised across three different continents (North America, Africa, and Europe) and in turn has experienced a life full of music, foreign language, culture and constant movement in a variety of of countries she now calls 'home'.
Simone has been building a carer as a vocalist and performer in touring musical productions (Jesus Christ Superstar), jazz bands (Liquid Soul), with international touring artists (Raphael), as well as Broadway performances (Rent, The Lion King, Aida). Towards the end of her last role as the lead in Disney's Aida, her mother passed away and Simone took over the most challenging role of her career thus far — executor of her mother's estate. Since taking over Nina's estate several years ago, Simone is now going forward with her musical career.
Prior to her passing, Nina left Simone a large collection of charts for compositions she had used for recording and preforming over the years. Some of these included the songs made famous by Nina Simone, others were unique arrangements of Nina's hits, and still others were never performed or recorded. These charts became the basis for Simone's newest record that was recorded in May 2007 with the help of legendary jazz producer and musician Bob Belden.
