Jodie Butler, youngest child of South African jazz artist Jonathan Butler, has been singing since the moment she opened her mouth. Touring with her father for over 5 years, she has been featured on albums such as Surrender; Live in South Africa, Michael Bolton’s latest Christmas project, and her latest feature, a duet with her father on gospel album, Brand New Day.
Her love for music has ignited her ambition to follow in her father’s footsteps. She is attending Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA determined to get her Bachelors in Music Theory, and Vocal Performance. Her love of music has fueled her desire to be the best and work with world renowned vocal trainer, Gerald Wright.
She is currently working on her father’s latest Gospel and Urban R&B record. She looks forward to recording her own album as she says, “it is something new and fresh to the current urban music industry.” She hopes “to bring her love of jazz and world music to R&B and Pop.” My father is my mentor, his music abilities to integrate, African sounds to R&B and gospel, is what I aspire to do.
